Director of Business Development (Remote)

The Director of Business Development is a part of The Enrollment Management Association’s (EMA) Member Relations Team. Key priorities include: managing a business development/sales region, meeting revenue goals, territory analysis, and planning, developing innovative approaches for product adoption and sales growth within a territory; providing exceptional service to all EMA member constituents; serving as Project Manager for various business development assignments; delivering thought leadership presentations to independent school leaders.

This position is fully remote.

This role reports to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor creating awareness and demand for EMA membership, products, and services
  • Create a business development strategy within their territory that provides clear direction for prioritization of  the most important areas of focus based on key  relationships and revenue opportunities. 
  • Provide monthly forecasting of territory sales and product adoption and meet monthly, quarterly, and annual targets identified and agreed upon
  • Identify new markets and areas of membership and product growth
  • Achieve annual sales targets through customer prospecting, account sales, and other strategies
  • Oversee the building of relationships with current and potential client schools in the assigned region
  • Recruit and sign new test centers 
  • Collaborate with all of the following:
  • 1. EMA’s Member Success team to ensure successful onboarding of both new members and products and services.
  • 2. EMA’s Marketing team to develop programs and promotions to increase sales and/or introduce new products and services
  • 3. Other EMA staff as needed to ensure streamlining of efforts and awareness
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to guide and teach schools about EMA’s full suite of products and services
  • Support the overall goals of the department by performing duties as assigned
  • Maintain knowledge of the market, competition, and best practices and trends in sales techniques and strategies

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, plus 10 years minimum professional experience, preferably with a background in sales

  • Organized and analytical, able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
  • Extensive travel required
