Director of Membership & Business Development

The Director of Membership and Business Development will oversee a specific territory, as well as coach and mentor a direct report. Key priorities include: assisting in team-wide strategic forecasting, territory planning, managing a territory region, developing innovative approaches for managing member and product sales growth within a territory; retaining current members by providing information training and support on various services and answering daily service-related questions; providing exceptional service to all The Enrollment Management Association’s member constituents; serving as Project Manager for various membership assignments/projects; delivering thought leadership presentations to independent school leaders.

Sr. Director of Membership & Business Development

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage at least one direct report responsible for sales, product, test center recruitment, and member retention 
  • Collaborates with leadership to develop territories, sales targets, and strategies
  • Review and analyzes regional sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability, and targets; and to identify potential new markets
  • Create, implement, and track the progress of territory plans for yourself and direct reports
  • Build relationships with current and potential client schools in the assigned region
  • Manage, support, and retain current members in their region, ensuring that all communications are answered in a professional, timely, friendly, efficient, and accurate manner 
  • Manage the new member application and onboarding process, including implementing first-time member experiences to increase member knowledge and engagement with the Organization
  • Achieve annual sales targets through customer prospecting, account sales, and other strategies
  • Recruit and sign new test centers to support the growth of SSAT 
  • Develop marketing programs and promotions to increase sales and/or introduce new products and services
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to all member schools to guide and teach them about EMA’s full suite of products and services
  • Support the overall goals of the department by performing duties as assigned
  • Maintain knowledge of market, competition, and best practices and trends in sales techniques and strategies

Educational Requirements

Experience Qualifications 

  • Ability to cultivate and manage sales opportunities within
  • Experience in managing sales staff
  • Extensive travel required; once it’s safe to travel
  • Ability to work independently with the capacity to manage complex issues, challenges, and solutions
