Product & UX Designer

The Product & UX Designer is responsible for the design of customer-facing products, portals and user journeys. This position seeks an individual motivated to define and refine product designs, from ideation through maturity, to achieve business goals and increase user engagement and delight.


The primary focus of this role will be to design products that are simple to use, advocate for the end-user, increase usability, and meet business goals in accordance with the product, technical and business direction of the organization. This position will require a broad range of skills, from high-level design and strategic thinking to wireframing and pixel-perfect prototyping. The products designed should ultimately be easy to use and visually appealing. This role works closely hand-in-hand with the product and technology teams and other cross-functional teams and key stakeholders.


The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, research-driven, skilled at design thinking, and results-oriented.

Key Responsibilities

Design Strategy & User Experience Design

  • Lead user journey mapping, high-level flows and use cases.
  • Define and maintain key personas to target for products.
  • Create clickable prototypes to share internally and externally for feedback and requirements gathering.
  • Strong knowledge of responsive web design to provide design solutions that can be easily implemented for mobile, tablet and desktop formats. 


Design Research

  • Partner with product, business analysts and researchers to define surveys, user interview scripts, and usability / UX test scenarios.
  • Provide visuals and clickable prototypes to use in testing and surveys.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to move forward based on insights and feedback from user research.


Visual Design & Style Guides

  • Lead visual design definition and decisions for all product initiatives, ensuring consistency in style and presentation across the suite of products and services.
  • Ensure UI style guide consistency in development and build a visual style guide language 
  • Provide pixel-perfect designs, including detailed redline specifications to show font sizes and spacing for developers when needed.


Represent the Voice of the Customer

  • Partner with marketing to ensure consistency in how we visually show and describe the products across marketing channels.
  • Consult on product design and user experience decisions for other internal groups, addressing requirements for product delivery, ongoing product operations and product marketing.
  • Partner with key collaborators and stakeholders on product enhancements and UX-related projects.

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required

Experience Qualifications 

  • 3-5 years UX or product design experience
  • Responsive and mobile web design experience 
  • Strong creative, collaborative and innovative thinker, able to partner with stakeholders and work through complex requirements to address user needs
  • Excellent ability to define and communicate product design concepts and visions
  • Experience with assessment player design or learning management system design is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in Sketch, XD, Invision, Figma, or other platforms for prototyping and gathering feedback internally and externally.
  • Proficient use of Pastel, Google Docs, Google Presentation, or similar soliciting feedback internally or externally.
  • Experience designing products and user journeys for K-12 / academic markets a plus
  • Salesforce experience a plus
