The EMA board of trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of three new trustees beginning their terms this July 1. We’re looking forward to their vision and leadership in the coming year.

Please join us in welcoming:

Jim Hamilton, a Boston native and graduate of The Roxbury Latin School, credits his independent school experience with transforming his life. He has dedicated his professional career to creating opportunities for students and the advancement of independent schools. After graduating from Amherst College, Jim began his career at Brooks School as an admissions officer, dorm parent, and coach. He then served as the Director of Admission and Financial Aid at St. George’s School in Newport, RI for nine years before returning to Brooks as the Associate Head for External Affairs, a position he held for six years before being named Head of School at Berwick Academy. Jim served as a faculty member of The Enrollment Management Association Admission Training Institute (ATI) for many years.  Jim received a MALS degree from Wesleyan University. He currently serves on the board of trustees at Roxbury Latin and is a past board member of Shore Country Day School. Jim and his wife, Lucy, have three children all of whom attend Berwick Academy.

Matthew Lai is the Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management at Avenues Silicon Valley (CA). Prior to joining Avenues, Matt spent 14 years at Woodside Priory School (CA) in a number of capacities, including Director of Admissions & Financial Aid, Dean of Students, Dean of Residential Life, and a teacher and coach. He also served for six years as a Trustee at The Girls' Middle School (CA), rolling off the board in 2019. Matt is a former attorney who practiced in the litigation department at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, LLP in Manhattan. He holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School as well as a M.A. and B.A. from Stanford University.

Travis Warren is the SVP/ President of Blackbaud’s K–12 Private Schools Group. Through his ability to apply technology to communication, Travis has spent the last decade changing the way people interact with private schools online. Today, he leads the team moving the combined suite of products built to connect the whole school forward with the same vision. Travis frequently speaks at conferences about technology and communications and runs hands-on workshops to help schools engage the newest mediums in their communications strategy.

He lives in Amherst, NH, with his wife and four children. Away from work, he enjoys coaching football, digital photography and serving as a trustee for his alma mater, Proctor Academy.
