What are the options to take the SSAT in 2023-2024?

To support flexibility, choice, and accessibility, The Enrollment Management Association offers the following options to take the SSAT. Please note that availability varies by location as not all testing modes are available in all locations.

Middle/Upper Level

• Paper Frequency: up to 6 Standard, 1 Flex per year
• Prometric Test Center Frequency: a total of 2 combined SSAT at Home and Prometric tests
• At-Home Frequency: a total of 2 combined SSAT at Home and Prometric tests

Notes: 

• Flex provides test-takers 1 additional testing opportunity on any day of the year, except Standards.
• There are certain limitations to the number of times the computer-based tests (CBT), SSAT At Home, and Prometric can be taken. If a student takes 2 SSATs at Home, they can not take any Prometric tests.

Elementary Level

• Paper Frequency: Up to 3 tests including 2 Standards and 1 Flex

When are the SSAT Standards scheduled for 2023-2024?

The SSAT Standards will be held on: 

1. October 14, 2023 (United States, Canada, China)
2. November 11, 2023 (United States, Canada, International)
3. December 9, 2023 (United States, Canada, International)
4. January 6, 2024 (United States, Canada, International)
5. February 3, 2024 (United States and Canada)
6. April 20, 2024 (United States, Canada, International)

Notes: 

• Testing outside the US/Canada will be limited to select Standard dates. See Q&A below for further information.
• February has moved earlier to support deadlines and member requests.
• Closed Standards are unavailable; Open Standards will be suggested.
• For those unable to test on these Saturdays due to religious reasons, limited Sunday testing for Standards is also available.
• International students visiting the US or Canada will have additional testing opportunities in these countries.

Will the SSAT at Home be available in all countries or in limited areas?

The SSAT at Home will be available in the U.S. and Canada for the 2023-2024 testing year. Computer-based testing will be available at Prometric test centers in U.S., Canada, and international locations. Paper-based testing will also be available at schools and test centers in U.S., Canada, and international locations where it is safe to reopen.

Can you share some more information on the combined total of two computer-based tests (CBT)?

Both Prometric and SSAT At Home are CBT. Each option is available up to 2 times per year, or a combined total of up to 2 times per year. If a student takes 2 SSATs At Home, they can not take any Prometric tests. Similarly, if a student takes 2 Prometrics, they cannot take any SSAT At Home tests.
